Many Americans have turned to making their own hand sanitizer for the time being, but some may be more effective than others. After several conflicting tweets from users claiming to make hand sanitizer with Tito’s vodka, the company released a statement stating that while their vodka contains 40% alcohol, it is recommended by the CDC to use at least 60% alcohol when making hand sanitizer.

While Dr. Kim stated that ethyl alcohol is the most effective for killing germs, witch hazel or a stronger vodka can be used as an alternative.
